How to Cook Indian project - Dish 17
I had been wanting to try one of the Salads and Raitas listed in the book and had some mangoes as well. So I made the following recipe.
Ambe Sasam (Mangoes and coconut with mustard seeds - page 66)
I’m not sure why this was listed in the Salads and Raitas section. I would have put it in the desserts section - it was pretty sweet. I’m also not sure what I would eat this with. Maybe it’s supposed to be more of a salad, and less of a raita? Anyway, if you’re looking for a dessert, well here you go!
No cooking notes from me, on this recipe. It was straightforward. I just reduced the dried red chilies in half, as that’s my preference.
As I can’t just post the recipe from the book (I guess I don’t want to get in trouble over copyright) I am including a link to a similar recipe. That said, I didn’t make the linked recipe, so I can’t vouch for it. I’m only including it in case you want to make something similar, but don’t want to buy the book.
This Ambe Sasam recipe from Sanjeev Kapoor, is pretty close!
